HCG Diet Tasty 500-Calorie Recipes

Before embarking on any of these recipes, ensure that you trim all traces of fat off the meat and weigh it raw.

Remember to check Dr Simeons’* 500-calorie diet for the maximum allowances of individual foodstuffs per day. For instance, the juice of only one lemon per day is permitted, so a tablespoon of lemon juice is half the day’s allowance.


For convenience, purchase a kilogram of raw chicken breasts, grill them, dice or shred them, then package them up into 10 100-gram lots, bag and label them, and freeze.

Apple chicken salad 


90 grams lean chicken breast, pre-grilled

1 diced apple

3 diced celery stalks

3 tablespoons lemon juice

Pinch of ground cinnamon

Dash of nutmeg

Dash of cardamom

Dash of salt

Stevia to taste


In a medium-sized bowl, toss ingredients together, sprinkle with Stevia and cinnamon, chill for 20 minutes and serve with a thin wedge of lemon (for decoration).

Serves: 1

Citrus Tilapia


100 grams tilapia, filleted
1 lemon, juiced
1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 teaspoon fresh or dried dill
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt


Mix together lemon juice, garlic, salt, and pepper to taste in a shallow baking dish. Coat the tilapia on both sides in the seasoning mix and marinate at room temperature for 15 minutes. Grill over medium heat for 4 – 5 minutes per side.

Serves: 1

Hot and Spicy Mexican Chicken Soup


90 grams cooked chicken breast, shredded or cut in chunks
3-4 cloves minced garlic
1 tsp cumin seed or powder
1/2 teaspoons onion powder
1/2 teaspoons chilli powder
1/2 teaspoons cayenne (use less if you don’t want it as spicy)
1/8 teaspoons red pepper flakes (optional)
1 diced tomato
2-3 cups homemade chicken stock
1/4 cup fresh chopped cilantro / coriander leaf (optional)


  1. Preheat pot over medium-high heat
  2. Pour in 1 cup of stock and add garlic
  3. Heat until it starts to boil (1 to 3 minutes) – when tiny bubbles well to the surface
  4. Add tomatoes, the rest of the stock, onion powder, cumin, chilli powder, cayenne, red pepper flakes and bring to the boil
  5. Reduce heat to a simmer, and add chicken
  6. Simmer for 5 minutes
  7. Remove from the heat and stir in cilantro
  8. Serve immediately

Serves: 1

Quick strawberry chicken salad


90 grams cooked chicken breast, diced or shredded
fresh baby leaf spinach (allowed amount)
6 fresh strawberries, diced
2-4 tablespoons French mustard (check label for sugar and fat)
1 – 2 tablespoons water (to preference)
Stevia to taste


  1. Salad dressing: Mix the mustard and water in a jug and add Stevia to taste
  2. Spread the spinach leaves on a dinner plate
  3. Toss the strawberries and chicken in a mixing bowl
  4. Spoon the strawberries and chick onto the bed of spinach leaves
  5. Pour the salad dressing over the top

Serves: 1

Piquant whitefish and asparagus


100 grams whitefish, filleted

Fresh asparagus (allowed amount)

1 lemon, juiced

1 teaspoon oregano

Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Preheat the oven to 400 F (204 C)
  2. Remove off woody ends from asparagus and discard
  3. Place the asparagus in the centre of a sheet of aluminium foil and sprinkle with salt and pepper
  4. Place the whitefish on top of the asparagus
  5. In small bowl, combine the lemon juice and oregano, and pour over the fish
  6. Fold up the edges of the foil to form a sealed ‘packet’
  7. Bake for 10-20 minutes
  8. Serve.
